About Yangwang
Yangwang is a premium electric vehicle brand launched by BYD in 2023 to serve as the company's ultra luxury and high performance division. Created to compete with elite global automakers, Yangwang represents BYD's technological showcase for next generation electrification, off road capability, and intelligent driving systems. The brand name, meaning "looking up" in Chinese, reflects its ambition to elevate domestic automotive engineering to world class standards while redefining luxury through innovation, sustainability, and performance. Yangwang's vehicles are designed, developed, and manufactured entirely in house, drawing on BYD's deep expertise in batteries, semiconductors, and electric powertrains.
The flagship model, the Yangwang U8, is a large electric SUV built on BYD's proprietary e4 platform, a quad motor independent drive system that enables extreme control and stability across all terrains. Each wheel is powered by its own motor, allowing real time torque vectoring, tank turns, crab mode, and advanced traction management. The U8 delivers over 1100 horsepower, accelerates from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in under four seconds, and features amphibious capability through a sealed battery system and pressurized electronics. It combines supercar level performance with off road ruggedness, establishing Yangwang as a technological leader in electric SUV engineering.
Complementing the U8, Yangwang introduced the U9 electric supercar, which uses the same e4 powertrain architecture to deliver track grade handling and acceleration rivaling established performance brands. Both models utilize BYD's Blade Battery technology for superior thermal safety and structural rigidity, integrated with an 800 volt silicon carbide platform for ultra fast charging and high efficiency. The vehicles feature BYD's DiSus intelligent hydraulic body control system, which continuously adjusts suspension dynamics for enhanced comfort, handling, and stability. This combination of innovations demonstrates BYD's mastery of the entire EV stack from chip to chassis.
Yangwang vehicles embody the future of electric luxury through advanced design, craftsmanship, and digital intelligence. Interiors feature sustainable materials, multi screen interfaces, and immersive AI driven user experiences integrated with BYD's Yun-Nian operating system. Production takes place at BYD's advanced facilities in Shenzhen and Xi'an, where automation, quality control, and clean energy integration set new benchmarks for premium manufacturing. As China's first true high end EV marque, Yangwang signals BYD's evolution from a mass market manufacturer to a global technology powerhouse, challenging established luxury automakers by merging raw power, intelligent control, and uncompromising sustainability in one complete ecosystem.
