About Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is a British ultra-luxury automobile manufacturer headquartered in Goodwood, England, and wholly owned by the BMW Group. Founded in 1904 by Charles Rolls and Henry Royce, the marque has become synonymous with ultimate craftsmanship, refinement, and silent power. In the modern era, Rolls-Royce has embraced full electrification as the next evolution of its legendary "magic carpet" driving experience- viewing electric propulsion as perfectly aligned with its values of effortless torque, serenity, and technological sophistication.

Rolls-Royce's first all-electric production car, the Spectre, debuted in 2023 as a two-door grand touring coupe and marks the beginning of the brand's new electric era. Built on the company's proprietary Architecture of Luxury- an all-aluminum spaceframe platform that also underpins the Phantom, Ghost, and Cullinan- the Spectre integrates a dual-motor electric powertrain producing approximately 430 kW (577 hp) and 900 Nm of torque. This allows 0-100 km/h acceleration in around 4.5 seconds while maintaining near-total cabin silence and a composed ride through its Planar Suspension system. The 102 kWh battery provides a WLTP range of approximately 520 kilometers, and charging supports up to 195 kW DC.

The Spectre's interior continues Rolls-Royce's tradition of bespoke artistry, featuring the world's first illuminated door panels with more than 5,500 "stars," customizable color and material combinations, and hand-stitched leathers crafted to individual customer specifications. Despite its technological sophistication, the car remains unmistakably analog in feel- designed to convey seamless, unhurried motion rather than outright speed. It serves as both a technical milestone and a symbolic shift for Rolls-Royce, confirming that the future of true luxury is electric.

Following the Spectre, Rolls-Royce is preparing additional fully electric models across its lineup. Among them is the rumored Silent Shadow- an ultra-luxury four-door electric sedan reportedly based on the Spectre's architecture and inspired by the Phantom's proportions. While not yet officially confirmed for production, the Silent Shadow is expected to deliver extended range, next-generation battery chemistry, and the same whisper-quiet refinement for which the brand is renowned. The vehicle may debut within the next one to two years as part of Rolls-Royce's broader electrification roadmap.

By 2030, Rolls-Royce has committed to becoming a fully electric marque, ending production of all internal-combustion models. The company views electrification as a natural progression rather than a disruption- an enhancement of the silent, powerful, and effortless qualities that have defined its identity for more than a century. Battery technology developed within the BMW Group, including solid-state and high-voltage systems, will underpin this transition while maintaining Rolls-Royce's handcrafted character and exclusivity.

Electrification Status

Rolls-Royce is a transitioning luxury automaker in the advanced stages of electrification. With the Spectre as its first production BEV and additional models like the Silent Shadow under development, the brand is redefining ultra-luxury for the electric age- combining heritage, craftsmanship, and silent performance to deliver the most refined zero-emission driving experience in the world.
