About Forthing
Forthing is a Chinese automotive brand under Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Corporation. Established in 2001 and originally positioned as a mid range family car brand, Forthing (also known domestically as Dongfeng Fengxing) has expanded into the new energy vehicle market with a growing lineup of hybrid and fully electric models. Headquartered in Liuzhou, Guangxi Province, the brand focuses on affordable, practical, and technology equipped vehicles designed for both domestic and export markets.
In recent years, Forthing has accelerated its electrification strategy with the introduction of several electric and plug in hybrid models, including the Forthing Leiting EV, Forthing Thunder EV, and Forthing Yacht EV. These models combine Dongfeng's proprietary electric drive systems with advanced connectivity and intelligent safety features. The Leiting EV serves as the brand's compact crossover offering, while the Yacht EV targets families with premium interior comfort and longer range capability. Many of Forthing's vehicles are based on Dongfeng's modular EV platforms, enabling cost efficiency and shared technology across multiple Dongfeng divisions.
Forthing's design language has evolved under the "Forthing Future" styling concept, emphasizing clean aerodynamic lines and digital interfaces that appeal to younger urban buyers. Its vehicles are equipped with intelligent cockpit systems featuring large infotainment screens, AI voice control, and driver assistance technologies integrated into Dongfeng's software ecosystem. The brand also offers hybrid models to support its gradual transition toward a fully electric lineup.
As part of Dongfeng's broader electrification roadmap, Forthing is positioned as a volume brand bridging traditional and new energy mobility. It plays a key role in Dongfeng's strategy to electrify all sub brands by 2030, with future plans to export electric crossovers and MPVs to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and select European markets. Through its mix of affordability, practicality, and growing EV expertise, Forthing is becoming one of Dongfeng's most dynamic and adaptable sub brands.
